Royal Heir Ent. sponsors the LPBF, a new Pro Women’s Basketball league in Honduras. The landscape of women’s sports in Honduras has reached an exciting new milestone with the official launch of the Liga Profesional de Baloncesto Femenino (LPBF) in late May 2024. This groundbreaking league aims to elevate the level of basketball and provide women with the opportunity to compete professionally in Honduras.
League Structure
The LPBF is comprised of four teams;Teguz 504, Nacional de Ingenieros, Teguz Juvenil, and Tune Squad, all based in the capital city of Tegucigalpa. The league was established to meet the growing demand for high-level basketball and to create professional opportunities for female athletes in the Central American region. The LPBF’s mission is to foster talent, promote competitive sports, and inspire future generations of women basketball players.
Ankara Reichle, a shooting guard for Teguz 504 and a prominent player on the Honduran women’s National Team, expressed her enthusiasm for the league’s potential impact. “As a professional player, this league is important to elevate the level of the local players in order to compete internationally. Also, it gives women the platform to show their abilities and put on a show for the fans.”
Born in Honduras, Royal Heir Ent. CEO Brian “Essince” Collins emphasized the league’s importance for the future of women’s sports in Honduras. “I’ve always looked for ways to give back to Honduras and, more recently, do it through sports. I love seeing the work Hondubasket is doing to develop the women’s game and the next generation of players. The birth of the LPBF has been really exciting to see and I’m honored to be involved.”
What the LPBF Represents
The launch of the LPBF marks a significant step forward for women’s sports in Honduras, promising to deliver high-quality basketball action and to cultivate a new generation of female athletes. The league’s formation is a testament to the growing popularity and support for women’s sports, and it stands as a beacon of progress and opportunity.
Royal Heir Ent. Sponsors LPBF
Starting a new professional league in an underserved community is difficult. Fútbol (soccer) is the main sport in Latin America, so resources aren’t as readily available for less popular sports like basketball. With their sponsorship, the LPBF was able to complete their first season, which consisted of live broadcasts, training, uniforms, payment for players, and more. With the formation of Royal Heir Sports marketing division, LPBF was able to become a priority.
The games are all broadcast for on HonduBasket’s YouTube and locally on cable. Teguz 504 won the inaugural championship game.
